Captain Zuraidi Zainol Abidin is currently engaged as a consultant to an Oil and Gas company in Port Marine Services and HSSE, after serving Northport (Malaysia) Bhd., as the Head of Marine Services and HSE since 2001. He has some 30 years of working experience in shipping, marine and port operations including pilotage, hydrographic surveys, mooring and unmooring services and maintenance dredging works.

He has played a pivotal role in Developing Business Continuity Management (BCM) at Northport. He has completed BCM Practitioner Program in Manila, Philippines and also attended a workshop in IT Business Continuity Management at Jakarta in 2012, respectively. He has also attended training programmes under both Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI-US) and Business Continuity Institute (BCI-UK).

As a Divisional Head he implemented the Division’s Balanced Scorecard and Enterprise Risk Management Scorecard. He has also attended a 3 DAY MBA for Maritime Management and Maritime Risk & Safety. He also attended workshops on Managing Maritime Emergencies by Lloyd’s Maritime Academy, Critical Thinking and Strategic Problem Solving Skills for Leaders and ISPS Code.

He has served the Malaysian International Shipping Corporations (MISC) for nearly 10 years as a Navigating Officer before joining Klang Port Authority (KPA) as a harbor pilot. He later moved to join Klang Port Management (KPM) a port operator, during the port privatization exercise, as a Pilot Superintendent and later to Northport (Malaysia) Bhd. as the Head of Marine Services and HSE and has also served as the Head of Container Operations.

He is a Chief Coach in Change Acceleration Program (CAP), a change initiative using CAP Tools adopted from General Electric Company (GEC). He was appointed as an Academic Advisor to Marine Academy of Malaysia (ALAM, 2004-2006). Attended the International Maritime Pilot Association (IMPA) XVII Congress 2004. He has completed the Bullet Proof Managers, one year Program, organized by CRESTCOM, at Kuala Lumpur.

He is currently the Vice President of the Maritime Professional Malaysia (IKMAL) after servicing it as Council Members for 2 terms. He has written articles in the Maritime Malaysia, IKMAL’s journal.
